Random doubles generator
Paste the names and draw the pairs for tonight: all random, mixed from two lists, or by level so every strong player gets a partner from the other half. The result comes with a draw code and the time, as an image, as text for the group chat and as a link.

Examples
A padel or beach tennis night with 12 names
All random gives 6 pairs. Tick the matches box and you also get who plays who in the first round.
Mixed doubles
Six women in list A and six men in list B give six mixed pairs. With seven and six, one name is left without a partner.
Balanced pairs for a tournament
List the 16 players from strongest to weakest and draw by level: each of the 8 strongest gets one of the other 8 as a partner.
Questions
Is the draw random?
The draw code comes from your browser's cryptographic random generator. The pairs are then worked out from that code and the lists with a fixed shuffle, so nobody chooses them and the same code always gives the same pairs. It is made for games among friends, not for draws with prizes or legal weight.
How do I show the group that nobody drew again?
Post the draw code and the time with the pairs: both are on the image and in the text. Whoever opens the link sees the same names, the same code and the same pairs. A second draw would show another code and a later time.
How does the mixed draw work?
Type one list in each box, for example women in list A and men in list B. Every pair gets one name from each list. If one list is longer, the extra names are shown as without a partner.
How does the draw by level work?
Type one list from the strongest to the weakest. The top half are the seeds, in that order, and each seed gets a partner drawn at random from the bottom half. With an odd number of names, one player of the bottom half is left without a partner.
What if the number of names is odd?
One name is left without a partner and is listed under the pairs, so the group can decide what to do: a substitute, a rotation or a pair that takes turns.
Can it also draw the matches?
Yes. Tick "Also draw who plays who" and the pairs are matched at random. With an odd number of pairs, one pair gets a bye.
What does the link contain?
The names, the way of pairing, the draw code and the time, in the part of the address after the # sign, which browsers do not send to the server when they load a page. Anyone who receives the link can read them, so send it only to the group.
