What keeps a review request inside Google's rules

  1. Ask, and offer nothing

Google strictly prohibits incentives in exchange for a review: no discount, no free item, no prize draw, no points. That also covers paying to change or remove a negative review. None of these messages offers anything.

  2. Ask every customer the same way

Google does not allow merchants to discourage negative reviews or to selectively solicit positive ones. Sending the request only to the customers who looked happy is exactly that. Send the same message to everyone you served.

  3. Let them write it, in their own words

A review must reflect a real experience and be posted by the person who had it. Do not write it for the customer, and do not ask for specific content or for a staff member to be named.

  4. No pressure at the counter

Google says merchants should not require or pressure customers to leave a rating or a review while they are on the premises. A card, a QR code or a message afterwards lets people do it when they choose.

Need the link and the QR code first?

The Google review QR generator on this site finds your review link and makes the QR code for the card. A VISU Local page puts your business in a local directory with that same review QR.

How to use it

  1. Type your business name and paste your Google review link. The customer's first name and who signs are optional.
  2. Pick the channel (WhatsApp, SMS, email or printed card), the tone and the moment: after a visit, a delivery or a service.
  3. Read the three options and copy the one that sounds like you. On WhatsApp, the send button opens the app with the text ready and you choose the contact.
  4. Send the same request to every customer you served, not only to the ones who seemed happy, and never attach a reward to it.

Examples

  • A bakery on WhatsApp, friendly tone

Star Bakery, customer Maria, after a visit: "Hi Maria! Thanks for stopping by Star Bakery today." followed by the request for an honest review and the link. The send button opens WhatsApp with the text ready.

  • A clinic by SMS, formal tone

With "SMS without accents" on, the counter shows how many of the 160 characters the message uses. A long review link can push it into two parts: the counter tells you before you send.

  • A salon with a card at the mirror

The printed card option gives a short title, one line of thanks and "Scan the QR code with your phone camera". Print it next to the QR code from the review QR generator.

Questions

Is it against Google's rules to ask customers for reviews?

No. Google's own help suggests reminding customers to leave reviews by sharing a link or a QR code. What the rules forbid is offering something in exchange, asking only the customers who are happy, pressuring people while they are on the premises and telling them what to write. The sources are linked on this page.

Can I offer a discount, a gift or a prize draw for a review?

No. Google calls that fake engagement and strictly prohibits it: no free or discounted goods or services in exchange for posting, changing or removing a review. Reviews that came from an incentive can be removed and the profile can be restricted. None of the templates here offers anything.

Should I send the request only to customers who had a good experience?

No. Google does not allow merchants to selectively solicit positive reviews or to discourage negative ones. Send the same message to every customer. Google also says a mix of positive and negative feedback tends to look more trustworthy.

Where do I find my Google review link?

Google explains how to create a link or a QR code to request reviews in the help page linked in the sources. The Google review QR generator on this site also builds the link from your Place ID or your Business Profile link, and makes the QR code for a printed card.

How long can an SMS be?

One SMS holds 160 characters of the basic GSM alphabet. A single character outside it, such as ã, ç or an emoji, switches the whole message to 70 characters. Longer texts are split into parts of 153 or 67. The counter under each SMS option shows where yours stands, and the "without accents" option keeps it in the basic alphabet.

Does this tool use AI? Is what I type stored?

No AI. The messages were written by people in each language and the page only puts the parts together. What you type stays in your browser: nothing is sent to a server or saved. The WhatsApp button opens wa.me with the text and you pick the contact yourself.

Is this an official Google or WhatsApp tool?

No. VISU is not affiliated with Google or WhatsApp. The tool writes plain text; the review itself happens on Google, in the customer's own account.
