Giveaway Rules Generator

Write the rules of your giveaway in a few minutes. Fill in the prize, the dates, who can enter and how, pick the network, and get a short text for the caption plus a full numbered version for a linked page. The line each network asks for is added for you. It is a template, not legal advice.

Rules ready. Next, the draw.

On the draw date, paste the comments or the list of names into the VISU giveaway picker. It draws in your browser and gives you a draw ID, the time and the entry count to post with the result, plus a winner card.

How to use it

  1. Type who runs the giveaway, the prize and how many winners there are. Add the opening and closing dates.
  2. Say who can enter (age, city or country, exclusions) and pick the network. The entry options change with it: what the network forbids is switched off, with the reason and the link.
  3. Set the draw date, where the result is announced, how long the winner has to reply and how the prize is delivered.
  4. Copy the caption into the post. Copy or download the full rules, put them on a page or a pinned comment, and link them from the caption.
  5. Read the section on permits for your country and show the text to a local lawyer before you publish.

Examples

  • Bakery giveaway on Instagram

Follow, like and comment to win a box of cupcakes. One winner drawn at random the day after closing, three days to reply, pickup at the shop. The Instagram release is added to both texts.

  • Facebook Page giveaway

Comment on the post or fill in a form. "Mention a friend" and "share" are switched off, because the Facebook policy says a promotion must not require or reward them.

  • Giveaway on a YouTube channel

The rules get the line saying YouTube is not a sponsor, the release, and the link to the Community Guidelines that YouTube asks for. A purchase cannot be a condition.

Questions

Is this legal advice?

No. The generator gives you a template built from what you type. It does not know your country, your state or the value of your prize, and it does not check whether your giveaway needs a permit, a registration or a tax payment. Show the text to a local lawyer before you publish.

Do I need a permit to run a giveaway?

It depends on where you are. In Brazil, prize promotions for advertising depend on prior authorisation from the Ministry of Finance. In Mexico, the Secretaría de Gobernación issues permits for draws. In Spain, the regulator says no licence is needed for a free promotional draw, but it is taxed. In the United States, a sweepstakes has to be free to enter, and Florida and New York ask for registration when the prizes pass $5,000. The section above links the official page behind each of these.

What do Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and X ask for?

Instagram asks for a release by each entrant and a statement that it does not sponsor, endorse or administer the promotion. Facebook asks for the same about Meta. YouTube asks the rules to say it is not a sponsor, to release it, to link to its Community Guidelines and to carry a privacy notice. X asks for a rule that makes anyone using multiple accounts ineligible. The generator adds these lines for the network you pick.

Can I ask people to tag friends or share the post?

On Facebook, no: its policy says a promotion must not require or reward sharing, reposting or tagging others, so those options are switched off. On Instagram, do not ask for inaccurate tags, such as tagging someone in a photo they are not in. On X, do not reward repeated posts.

What is the difference between the caption and the full rules?

The caption is the short text that goes with the post: prize, how to enter, dates and the line the network asks for. The full rules are the numbered version with everything else: eligibility, the draw, the reply deadline, delivery, disqualification and personal data. Put the full rules on a page or a pinned comment and link them from the caption.

How do I pick the winner?

On the draw date, copy the comments or the list of entrants and use a random picker. The VISU giveaway picker draws in your browser and gives you a draw ID, the time and the entry count, which you can post with the result. Check first that a random draw is allowed for your kind of promotion where you are.

Why are TikTok and WhatsApp not in the list?

The list only has networks whose official promotion rules we read. We did not find a public TikTok page for ordinary giveaways, and WhatsApp has a business messaging policy but no promotion guideline. Choose "Other network", type the name and you get a general line. Read their terms yourself.

Is what I type saved anywhere?

No. The text is assembled in your browser. The organiser name, the prize and the contact are not uploaded, not stored and not added to the page address.
