One per line (commas work too). Up to 40 words. Spaces and hyphens are left out in the grid.
No words yet.
Or start from a theme:
Across, down and diagonally, never backwards.
Off: letters go in without accents (é becomes E), the way most printed puzzles do it.
Everything is made in your browser. Your words are not uploaded or saved.
Puzzle
Type your words or pick a theme, then press "Make the word search".
- Seed
- Made at
The same list and settings with the same seed always make this exact sheet, so the link, the printout and the answer key match. A new one has a new seed.
In the print window choose scale 100% (not "fit to page") and margins "none", so every size comes out exact.
Play online
Drag from the first letter of a word to its last letter, or tap the two letters. Found words are crossed off the list.

Handing out puzzles in class or at an event?
Print a dynamic VISU QR next to the puzzle. People scan it to open the page you choose, such as the online version, the answers or your class page, you can change that destination after printing, and you see how many scans it got.

Questions
Is the word search really free and printable?
Yes. Make as many puzzles as you want, print them on A4 or Letter, and save any page as a PNG. There is no account and no watermark to pay for: the small "Made with VISU" line can be switched off.
Does it come with an answer key?
Yes. Every puzzle has its own answer key page with each word circled in the grid. You can print the puzzle with the key, or without it to hand out.
What changes between Easy, Medium and Hard?
Easy hides words across and down only. Medium adds diagonals. Hard uses all 8 directions, backwards included, and fills the empty squares with letters taken from your own words, so the words blend in.
What happens to accents and spaces?
By default the grid uses letters without accents, the way most printed puzzles do, and leaves out spaces and hyphens, so "Candy cane" goes in as CANDYCANE. Tick "Keep accents in the grid" to keep them. In Spanish the Ñ always stays a letter.
Can a word appear twice by accident?
No. After the grid is filled, every word is searched in all 8 directions, and any filler letter that would spell it a second time is drawn again. The only exception is a short word that is part of a longer one in your list.
Can my students play it online?
Yes. The puzzle can be solved right on this page by dragging across the letters, and the share link opens the same puzzle on any phone or computer. Tick the QR code option to print a code that opens it.
What does the share link contain?
Your words, the settings, the title and the seed, written into the link itself (the part after #). Nothing is stored on a server, and the same link always rebuilds the same puzzle.
