How to use it

  1. Paste the full address of the page you are going to share.
  2. Look at the previews to see how the title, text and image come out.
  3. Fix what the audit flags in your site or CMS (often an SEO plugin field).
  4. After fixing, run the check again. Apps keep old previews cached for a while.

Examples

  • Before posting an article

Make sure the image is not cropped and the title is not cut off in WhatsApp groups.

  • A link that shows the wrong image

Check whether og:image points to the right picture and if it loads over https.

Questions

What is Open Graph?

A set of meta tags (og:title, og:description, og:image and others) that tell apps what to show when a link is shared. Twitter cards are X’s version, with Open Graph as the fallback.

Why does WhatsApp still show the old preview?

Apps cache previews. WhatsApp usually picks up changes for new messages after some time; Facebook and LinkedIn have their own refresh tools (Sharing Debugger and Post Inspector).

What image size works best?

1200 × 630 pixels (1.91:1), JPG or PNG over https, works on Facebook, LinkedIn and X. For WhatsApp, also keep the file light: images above roughly 300 KB often show no picture there.

Why can some pages not be checked?

The checker fetches the public page from our server. Pages behind a login, on private networks, or that block automated visits cannot be read.
