OG image generator for link previews

Make the image that appears when your link is shared in a chat or on a social network: 1200 x 630 pixels, with your title, a short line, your site name and logo over a colour, a gradient or your own photo. Download it as PNG or as a light JPEG and copy the meta tags to paste on your page. Your images never leave the browser.

Where the numbers come from

The image size and the tags follow what the official pages below say. We read them on October 11, 2026. The safe margin and the default JPEG limit are our own choices.

How to use it

  1. Type the title, an optional second line and your site name. The preview changes as you type, and the title shrinks or wraps so it always fits.
  2. Choose the background: a gradient, one colour or your own photo with a dim that keeps the text readable. Add your logo if you have one.
  3. Download the PNG, or the JPEG under the size limit you choose, and upload the file to your site.
  4. Type the address of the uploaded image, copy the meta tags and paste them in the head of your page. Then check how the link looks.

Examples

  • Bakery sharing its order page in group chats

Title "Fresh sourdough, baked every morning", the line "Order by 8 pm and pick up from 7 am", the bakery name and a round logo on a dark gradient. The link stops being a bare address and shows what it is about.

  • Creator with a photo behind the title

A photo of the workshop as background with the dim at 50%, the course name as title and the handle as site name. White text stays readable over the picture, and the JPEG is exported under the limit you set.

  • Blog post with a long headline

A long headline is set in up to four lines at a smaller size instead of running off the image. If it still does not fit, it ends with an ellipsis inside the margins.

Questions

Are my photo and logo uploaded?

No. The page loads once and from then on your browser draws everything on your device. No file and no text you type is sent to a server, and there is no account. You can check it: open the network panel of your browser while you work and no request appears.

What is an OG image?

OG is short for Open Graph, the protocol a page uses to say which title, description and image represent it when the link is shared. The image is declared with the og:image tag. Without it, an app picks a picture on its own or shows none.

Why 1200 x 630 pixels?

It is the size Meta for Developers gives for images in link shares: at least 1200 x 630 pixels for the best display on high resolution devices, with a shape as close to 1.91:1 as possible. We read that page on October 11, 2026 and it is linked in the sources table below.

Where do I put the meta tags?

Upload the image to your site, type its address in the field and copy the tags. Paste them inside the head of the page you want to share. Many site builders have a social image field in the page settings that writes these tags for you: in that case you only need the image.

I changed the image and the old one still appears. Why?

An app can keep a copy of a preview after the first time a link is shared. Use the link preview checker to see what your page declares right now, and give the new image file a new name so its address changes.

What are the safe margins?

A guide 72 pixels from each edge that the text and the logo never cross. It is our own design choice, not a rule of any platform: it keeps the words away from the edge in case a preview is trimmed or shown with rounded corners. The lines exist only in the preview, never in the file.

PNG or JPEG?

PNG keeps text perfectly sharp and is very light on a flat colour. With a gradient or a photo, JPEG is much lighter: choose a limit in KB and the tool looks for the best quality under it, always at 1200 x 630 pixels. Both show their real size before you download.

Is a VISU logo added to the image?

No. The image is yours: it carries only what you type and the files you choose.
