Mexico Finiquito Calculator
When a job ends in Mexico, the employer pays a finiquito: unpaid days, the proportional aguinaldo, the vacation of the year in progress and its premium. After a dismissal it adds the liquidación: 3 months of pay, 20 days a year in some cases and the seniority premium. Type the salary, the dates and how the job ended, and see every amount of the Federal Labor Law (LFT), step by step.

How the finiquito and the liquidación are calculated
Finiquito, always
Whatever the reason, the job ends with the pay still owed: unpaid days, the aguinaldo of 2026 in proportion (LFT art. 87), the vacation of the year of service in progress in proportion (art. 79) plus any days earned and not taken, and the vacation premium of at least 25% on them (art. 80).
Vacation days
Since 2023 (art. 76): 12 days after the first year, 14, 16, 18 and 20 in years 2 to 5, then 2 more days every 5 years (22 from year 6 to 10, 24 from 11 to 15). The year in progress earns the days of the year it completes, in proportion to the days worked.
Liquidación after a dismissal
An unjustified dismissal pays 3 months of pay instead of reinstatement (art. 48). When the employer is allowed not to reinstate, or when the worker quits for the employer's fault, it adds 20 days for each year of service (arts. 49, 50 and 52). This page counts full years for the 20 days, as the article reads.
Seniority premium
12 days of pay for each year of service, the part of the last year included (art. 162 and SCJN jurisprudence 818610). It is due after any dismissal, justified or not, and after a resignation only with 15 years or more. Its daily base is never below the minimum wage nor above twice it (arts. 485 and 486).
Daily pay for severance
Severance is calculated on the daily pay plus the proportional part of benefits (art. 89). By default this page adds the share of the aguinaldo and the vacation premium: daily salary × (365 + aguinaldo days + vacation days × premium) ÷ 365. You can use only the salary or type your own integrated daily salary.
What this leaves out
Income tax (ISR) on these payments, salaries owed during a trial and their interest (art. 48), profit sharing (PTU), benefits of a contract or a collective agreement and fixed-term contracts (art. 50, fraction I).

Questions
What is the difference between finiquito and liquidación?
The finiquito is what is owed on any exit: unpaid days, proportional aguinaldo, vacation and premium. The liquidación adds what a dismissal pays: 3 months of pay, the 20 days a year when they apply and the seniority premium.
How much finiquito do I get if I resign?
Your unpaid days, the aguinaldo of 2026 in proportion, the vacation of the year of service in progress plus any days not taken, and the 25% premium. The seniority premium only with 15 years or more.
When are the 20 days per year paid?
When the employer is allowed not to reinstate you (LFT art. 49: less than one year of service, positions of trust, domestic work, among others) or when you quit for the employer's fault (arts. 51 and 52). An ordinary unjustified dismissal pays the 3 months.
Is the seniority premium paid after a justified dismissal?
Yes. Article 162 pays it to those dismissed "regardless of whether the dismissal was justified or not". It is 12 days for each year, with the daily base capped at twice the minimum wage.
Does the finiquito pay income tax?
Partly. The law exempts part of the aguinaldo (30 UMA), of the vacation premium (15 UMA) and of severance (90 UMA per year of service). This page shows gross amounts and does not calculate the ISR.
Is this the exact amount I will get?
It is an estimate based on the Federal Labor Law. Your contract, a collective agreement or a court can set more. The Federal Labor Defense Office (PROFEDET) gives free advice. Your numbers stay in your browser.
