How to play each game

Four games that work for kids and grown-ups at the same table. The examples below come from the cards the tool prints.

Christmas trivia

Split into teams. One person reads a card out loud and the first team to answer right scores a point. The answer is printed upside down at the foot of the card, or on the answer sheet if you prefer.

Examples

  • In the poem "A Visit from St. Nicholas", how many reindeer pull the sleigh? Eight.
  • In that same poem, which reindeer is named first? Dasher.
  • Which red Christmas plant is named after the first US envoy to Mexico, Joel Poinsett? The poinsettia.
  • In "The Twelve Days of Christmas", what is given on the fifth day? Five gold rings.

Charades

One player draws a card and acts it out in silence while the team guesses within one minute. No words, no sounds, no pointing at objects in the room.

Examples

  • Wrapping a present
  • Building a snowman
  • Decorating the tree
  • Ice skating

Who am I?

Each player holds a card to the forehead without looking at it. Ask the others yes or no questions ("Am I food?") until you guess who or what you are.

Examples

  • Santa Claus
  • Mrs. Claus
  • A reindeer
  • A snowman

Would you rather

Read the card and everyone chooses one side, by raising a hand or moving to a side of the room. Each player explains the choice in one sentence. No points: it is a conversation starter for tables of people who just met.

Examples

  • Open one present on Christmas Eve or wait and open them all on Christmas morning?
  • Build a snowman or have a snowball fight?
  • Eat only cookies for a day or eat only candy canes for a day?
  • Be one of Santa's elves or be one of his reindeer?

How to use it

  1. Tick the games you want: trivia, charades, "Who am I?", "Would you rather", or only your own cards.
  2. Choose how many cards per game and per sheet, and where the trivia answers go: upside down on the card, on an answer sheet, or both.
  3. Press Make the cards. Flip through them on screen; Shuffle again gives a new deck and a new deck code.
  4. Print at 100% scale and cut along the marks. Card stock lasts longer if you play every year.

Examples

  • Family Christmas Eve

Trivia and charades, 12 cards each, 8 per sheet: two sheets cut while the dinner cooks, teams of kids against grown-ups.

  • Office party

"Would you rather" and "Who am I?" cards on each table as ice breakers, plus five custom cards about the year at the company.

  • Classroom

All the "Who am I?" cards, 12 per sheet, for a forehead guessing game on the last day before the holidays.

Questions

What Christmas games can I print here?

Christmas trivia with answers, charades, "Who am I?" and "Would you rather". You can mix them in one deck and add your own cards, one per line, for family jokes or questions about your office.

Are the trivia answers on the cards?

You choose: upside down at the foot of each card (the reader cannot see it at a glance), on an answer sheet at the end with the card numbers, or both. The answer sheet can carry a QR code that opens an online scoreboard.

Are these games good for kids?

Yes. Every card is family friendly. Charades and "Who am I?" work from about six years old, trivia and "Would you rather" from about eight, and grown-ups can play on the same teams.

How many cards fit on a page?

4, 8 or 12 per A4 or Letter sheet, with cut marks. Eight per sheet is a good size for reading at a table; 12 suits "Who am I?" cards held to the forehead.

Can we play the same deck again next year?

Yes. Keep the printed cards, or note the deck code: the same code with the same choices makes the same deck. Shuffle again makes a new one.

Can I remove "Made with VISU"?

Yes. Untick "Show Made with VISU" and the line leaves the cards and the answer sheet. It is free and needs no account.
