Write at least one line, or use the example, to see your calendar.

A small line at the foot of each printed page, not on the cards themselves. Untick to remove it: free, no account.

In the print window choose scale 100% (not "fit to page") and margins "none". For the cards, thick paper folds cleaner.

How to use it

  1. Choose 24 days (1 to 24 December) or 25 (with Christmas Day) and the format: fold cards or a one page poster.
  2. Keep the ideas, shuffle them, or write your own: one line per day, line 1 is 1 December.
  3. Pick a motif, the colours and the letters. Go through the days with Previous and Next.
  4. Print at 100% scale. For cards, cut along the crop marks and fold each strip on the dashed line, printed side out.
  5. Hang the cards on a string, slip them into 24 bags or envelopes, or stick the poster on the fridge and tick a day each morning.

Questions

Why 24 or 25 days?

Most countdown advent calendars run from 1 to 24 December and end on Christmas Eve. Choose 25 to include Christmas Day as the last box. Line 1 of your list is always 1 December.

How do the fold cards work?

Each card is a strip two faces tall. The front shows the day number on a colour panel; the back holds the message and is printed upside down on purpose. Fold the strip on the dashed line with the printed side out: the number faces you and the message reads the right way up on the back. Eight cards fit on one A4 or Letter sheet.

Can I write my own messages?

Yes. Edit any line of the list, paste your own or shuffle the ideas. A day with an empty line prints blank, so you can write it by hand. Messages of up to 120 characters fit on a card.

Where do the ideas come from?

We wrote them for this tool: simple things to do at home, most of them free, such as baking cookies, making a card for a neighbour or calling a grandparent. The Brazilian list is written for a summer Christmas.

Which paper should I use?

Plain paper works for the poster. For the cards, 160 to 250 g/m² folds cleanly and stands up to little hands. Print at 100% scale with no margins and cut along the marks.

Is it free? Is anything saved?

It is free and needs no account. The calendar is made in your browser and your messages are not sent to VISU or stored. The small "Made with VISU" line can be removed with one tick.
