Forty-five Christmas trivia questions and answers about carols, Santa's reindeer, famous trees and holiday customs from Mexico to Sweden. Each answer was checked on September 27, 2026 against a museum, archive, government or official tourism page, and the harder questions are marked so you can build an easy family round or a tougher adult quiz from the same list.

Pick a Format Before You Print

The list has four themed rounds of ten questions and a set of five number questions for breaking ties. Questions marked (Hard) usually need a specific name, date or spelling, so skip them for younger players or save them for the final round of an adult quiz.

Award one point for each complete answer in the four main rounds, for a maximum of 40. Question 13 is the stated exception: half a point for each exact historical name. Accept accurate translations and equivalent names elsewhere. Keep the five numerical tiebreakers outside that total; use them only if teams are tied.

Read each question twice and allow about thirty seconds. Lock in each answer before moving on; some questions share a story or source. Read the answer notes after the round so they do not supply clues to later questions.

If trivia is only one part of the evening, pair it with a present swap. Our list of Christmas gift exchange games has swap formats that fit between rounds without turning into a second contest.

    Answer: 3. [21]
  3. How many copies did Henry Cole commission for the 1843 Christmas card’s initial printing?
    Answer: 1,000, according to the V&A. [21]

    Answer: December 12. [11]

If teams remain tied after all five questions, share the result or use an additional, separately sourced question agreed on by the host.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to play all 45 Christmas trivia questions?

At thirty seconds of answer time per question, 45 questions allow 22.5 minutes for thinking alone. Add reading, answer explanations and breaks; choose fewer rounds if the session has a fixed end time.

Which questions work best for kids?

Skip the questions marked Hard and start with Round 2 and Round 3. Reindeer, the poinsettia and the 1823 poem tend to work well, and adults can read the notes aloud.

What is the hardest question on the list?

Questions marked Hard ask for precise details such as historical spelling or a specific institution. The difficulty depends on the group; no player results were measured.

Where do the answers come from?

Each answer was checked on September 27, 2026 against a museum, archive, government or official tourism page. The References section lists the pages used, so the host can settle disputes.

Why are there no Christmas movie questions?

Film questions reward whoever watches the most movies, so this list sticks to songs, books, traditions and nature. If your group wants a film round, add it as a separate round after these four.

Can I run this quiz on a video call?

Yes. Share the questions by reading them aloud, ask each team to send answers privately in the chat, and reveal the answers only after every team has submitted.
