What to test

Speak or clap: the bar should move. If it stays flat, pick another microphone.

Nothing is recorded, saved or sent. The browser asks for permission, and the test stops when you switch tabs or leave.

How to use it

  1. Pick Microphone, Camera or Keyboard.
  2. For the mic and the camera, press Start and allow access when the browser asks.
  3. Choose another device in the list if you have more than one.
  4. For the keyboard, press every key: the ones that light up work.

Examples

  • Before a video call

The mic bar moves when you talk and the camera shows 1280 × 720: you are ready.

  • A sticky key

You press every letter and the E never lights up: the key needs cleaning or repair.

Questions

Is my voice or image recorded?

No. The page only reads the live signal to draw the bar and the preview. Nothing is recorded, stored or sent.

Why does the browser ask for permission?

Browsers never let a page use the mic or camera without asking. If you said no by mistake, allow it in the address bar.

The mic bar does not move. What now?

Pick another microphone in the list, check that it is not muted, and that no other app is using it.

Does the keyboard test work with any layout?

Yes. It reads the physical key, so it works with QWERTY, ABNT and other layouts. Some keys, like the Windows key, may be taken by the system first.

Does it work on a phone?

The mic and camera tests do. The keyboard test needs a physical keyboard.
