From Kirby and Sonic to Minecraft, Portal and the controllers on your shelf, these 40 video game trivia questions cover characters, worlds and familiar game mechanics. There are five rounds of eight, with an answer and official-source reference for every question. Pick the games your group knows, or mix experienced players with newcomers so different interests get a turn. This is an independent fan quiz, not a publisher-sponsored competition.

How to Run the Five Rounds
Give each team a sheet numbered 1 to 40 and choose one reader. Allow about 20 seconds per question, then ask everyone to lock an answer before the reveal. Once an answer is revealed, it cannot be changed. Some questions share a game, so a later prompt may offer a clue. Give one point per correct answer, with a maximum of 40. Question 27 requires both names; say that before reading it.
Keep devices out of the scored round, but keep the reference list available to the host. Accept an established localized name when it identifies the same character, item or ability. Minor spelling differences should not decide the result. The standard names below follow the linked publisher pages; a group can agree on its preferred localized equivalents before starting. These are knowledge questions, not a recommendation that every featured game suits every age.
For a shorter session, choose one round rather than racing through all five. Read a question twice if needed and give everyone time to commit. After scoring, invite a brief explanation of the answer without changing the points. If teams remain tied, sharing the result is simpler than inventing a new numerical fact on the spot.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to own these games to use the quiz?
No. The quiz can be read aloud or answered on paper. It does not require a game account, console or purchase.
How should question 27 be scored?
Award one point only if the team names both Cody and May. Announce that rule before reading the question and use it for every team.
Can I accept character names from another language?
Yes, when the localized name clearly refers to the same character, item or ability. Agree on that approach before playing and consult the linked publisher source if needed.
Are all 40 questions suitable for every age?
The questions avoid graphic descriptions, but some referenced games are intended for mature players. The host should select familiar, appropriate rounds for the actual group.
