Sliding Puzzle: put the numbers back in order

puzzle The numbered tiles are shuffled with one empty space. Slide them one at a time until they read in order, using as few moves as you can. Free, no download, no sign-up.

How to play

  1. Pick a board size: 3x3, 4x4 or 5x5, then press Start.
  2. Tap a tile next to the empty space to slide it there.
  3. Arrange the tiles in order from 1 to the last number, left to right and top to bottom.
  4. Finish with fewer moves and less time to earn more stars. Press New to shuffle again.

Is every shuffle solvable?

Yes. The board is always shuffled into a position that can be solved.

Is it free?

Yes. It runs in your browser with no download and no account.

Which size should I start with?

3x3 is quick to learn; 4x4 is the classic 15 puzzle; 5x5 is a long challenge.
