Code Breaker: crack the secret color code

puzzle A hidden row of colors waits behind the board and every guess earns clues about it. Read the black and white pegs, rule out options and crack the code before your tries run out. Free, no download, no sign-up.

How to play

  1. Pick Easy, Medium or Hard. Harder levels add colors and pegs and give you fewer guesses.
  2. Tap colors in the palette to fill your guess. Tap a filled slot to empty it, or press Clear.
  3. Press Submit. A black peg means a right color in the right spot; a white peg means a right color in the wrong spot.
  4. Use the clues from earlier rows to narrow it down until every peg is black.

Questions

Can a color appear twice in the code?

Yes. The secret code can repeat colors, so keep that in mind when you read the clues.

Do the clue pegs tell me which position is right?

No. They only count how many are right, not which ones. Working that out is the puzzle.

What is a good first guess?

On Easy, try two colors in pairs, like red red blue blue. It tells you a lot about both colors at once.
