A tutor receives a referral from a former student. Should the shared link open the tutor's marketplace profile or a page the tutor controls? Both can be useful, but they solve different first questions. Decide by where this new learner came from, what they still need to understand and which system will handle the next step.

A Public Page for Your Services

Explore a professional page and QR for services and the links the professional or firm already uses.

For independent teachers and service professionals.

Begin With the Referral's Origin

A student browsing a tutoring marketplace is already inside a comparison and booking flow. They can search subjects, review profiles and choose a lesson there. A former student's friend arrives differently: they know your name, but may not know whom you teach, whether you work online or locally, or what to ask before booking. The best first link for the friend may differ from the best route for someone who found you in the marketplace.

Keep those audiences separate. If a learner contacted you through a marketplace, continue that relationship within its rules and tools. This guide does not suggest moving that learner to an outside channel. For a referral you earned independently, choose the destination that gives the person enough context to take the next legitimate step. That might still be your marketplace profile if you want its booking workflow. It might be a small professional page if the person needs to understand your offer before choosing a time.

Do not treat a page as a source of students by itself. A page can make an existing introduction clearer; it does not guarantee search traffic or inquiries. Likewise, a marketplace profile can place you inside that platform's search, but its visibility, fees and booking rules belong to the provider and may change. Check the current terms of the platform you actually use before putting either link on a card or in a message.

Compare the Two Destinations

The practical question is what the recipient needs first, not whether one channel must replace the other. Use one prominent action for a referral who is ready to book; use a short explanation when the referral still needs to decide whether your lessons fit.

First destinationBest fit and owner to check
Marketplace profileUseful when the referral wants to review the platform listing and book through its existing process. Check whether the profile is current, which lesson types it shows and what the provider permits you to share.
Own professional pageUseful when a referral from your own network needs to understand subjects, audience, teaching format and how to contact you. Check who updates the copy and which external contact or booking link is approved.
Page linking to a profileUseful when the page answers initial questions and the marketplace remains the booking destination. Label the outgoing link honestly so the visitor knows they are leaving for that provider.

Preply's tutor guidance describes a marketplace where students search profiles, message tutors and book lessons within Preply. Its sharing guide explains the difference between sharing a tutor profile and a referral link. Those are examples of one provider's workflow, not VISU features or universal rules for every teaching platform.

Write the Introduction a Referral Needs

A useful own page can be short. State the subject and the people you teach, the lesson format you actually offer, a few questions you help learners work through and the next contact action. If you teach both exam preparation and conversational lessons, name them separately rather than promising every possible outcome. Add location or online availability only when accurate. Keep testimonials, photos and credentials to material you have permission to publish.

Then decide what the button says. “See my profile on Preply” is honest if it opens Preply. “Ask about lessons” should open the email, phone or form you really monitor. “Choose a time” should appear only if the external booking system actually lets the visitor choose and confirm a slot. VISU Link can present the public page and link to that system; it does not manage a class calendar, enrollment, payment or lesson delivery.

Make one person responsible for updates. A page can be edited when a subject, availability description or link changes, but a business card printed with a personal number or direct marketplace URL does not change because the page changed. Record which URL the QR contains, what is printed next to it and which channel receives the inquiry.

A Fictional Tutor With Two Routes

Fictional example. Maya teaches adult language learners online. Her marketplace profile shows the times and lesson options that the provider manages. Students who discover Maya in that marketplace continue messaging and booking there. Maya does not ask them to move their platform conversation to a different payment or booking channel.

Maya also receives introductions from former colleagues. These people have not opened the marketplace. They ask whether she teaches interview practice, whether lessons are one to one and what to do next. Maya shares a small professional page that answers those questions in her own words. It shows her current contact method and, if she chooses, a clearly labelled link to her marketplace profile for people who want to book there. The page is a presentation and handoff, not a new learning platform.

Before printing a card, Maya tests both choices with a friend. The friend who wants a scheduled lesson can follow the provider link. The friend who needs to discuss a goal can use Maya's current inquiry channel. Maya notes who will update the page if her lesson format changes and keeps her marketplace profile accurate under its own rules. No scan is counted as a student or a completed reservation.

Keep Booking in the System That Owns It

The VISU Professionals solution offers a public professional page, QR artwork and links to services and contact. For a tutor, the content and scope should be agreed around real subjects and channels. The marketplace remains responsible for its discovery, messaging and booking experience. Your separate calendar or contact tool remains responsible for its own confirmations. A VISU page can point to either one, but the page alone does not reserve a lesson or create a student record.

If you use more than one destination, explain the distinction in plain labels. Do not put two identical “Book now” buttons beside each other if one opens a marketplace and the other opens an inquiry form. Test whether the person understands the provider change before they reach a login or account screen. If your marketplace rules limit outside links or communications, follow those rules for traffic from that marketplace and seek the provider's current guidance when unsure.

Test Both Links Before Sharing

  1. Ask where the person first heard about you: marketplace search or your own referral.
  2. Open each link on a phone without using your logged-in tutor account.
  3. Check that subjects, format and current contact details agree across the page and profile.
  4. Confirm who receives an inquiry and which external system actually confirms a booking.
  5. Check the marketplace's current sharing rules before linking from a page, message or printed card.
  6. Record the printed QR destination and who will update each live page.

The result to aim for is a truthful next step. A referral can understand your offer, then contact or book through the route you actually operate. Measure real inquiries in the channel that receives them; a page view alone does not show that a lesson was requested or delivered.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I stop using a tutor marketplace if I create my own page?

No. A marketplace can remain the place where its students discover and book with you. Your page can explain your offer to people you reach independently and point to an approved next step.

Can I send students who found me on a platform to my own booking tool?

Follow the current terms of the platform that introduced the student. This guide addresses referrals you receive independently and does not recommend moving a platform conversation outside its permitted process.

Does a VISU page let students reserve or pay for a lesson?

The page presents information and links to the contact or booking system you already use. Reservation, confirmation, payment and lesson delivery remain in that external system or a separately scoped project.

Is a marketplace profile link enough for every referral?

It can be enough when the person already understands your lessons and wants that provider's booking flow. A separate introduction helps when the person first needs to know your subject, audience or format.

Will my own page bring students from search automatically?

No traffic or inquiry volume is guaranteed. Use the page to make existing introductions clearer, keep its information accurate and evaluate actual contacts through the channel that receives them.
